Description

Enjoy fresh, homemade crusty bread with minimal effort using a Dutch oven.


Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water


Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, salt, and yeast.
  2. Add the warm water and stir until a shaggy dough forms. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it sit at room temperature for 12 to 18 hours.
  3. Preheat your Dutch oven in the oven to 450°F (230°C).
  4. While the Dutch oven is heating, turn the dough out onto a well-floured surface and shape it into a ball.
  5. Once the Dutch oven is hot, carefully remove it and place the dough inside. Cover with the lid and bake for 30 minutes.
  6. Remove the lid and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the bread is golden brown.
  7. Let it cool on a wire rack before slicing.

Notes

Serve warm with butter or olive oil; can be used for sandwiches or dipping.
