Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/4 teaspoons salt
- 1/2 teaspoon instant yeast
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together flour, salt, and yeast.
- Add warm water and stir until a wet, shaggy dough forms.
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it rise at room temperature for 12 to 18 hours.
- Flour a work surface and gently turn the dough out onto it.
- Fold the dough over a few times and shape it into a ball.
- Place the dough on a floured kitchen towel, cover it, and let it rest for another hour.
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) and place a Dutch oven inside to heat.
- Once heated, carefully remove the hot Dutch oven, place the dough inside, cover it, and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove the lid and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the crust is golden brown.
- Let the bread cool on a wire rack before slicing.
Notes
For added flavor, consider mixing in herbs, garlic, or cheese into the dough. Store cooled bread in a kitchen towel or paper bag at room temperature for up to three days.
