Description
Delicious and guilt-free churro bites made in the air fryer, lower in sugar and made with whole wheat flour.
Ingredients
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1/4 cup coconut sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil (melted)
- Cooking spray
- Extra cinnamon and coconut sugar for coating
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix whole wheat flour, coconut sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
- Add applesauce, melted coconut oil, and water; stir until a dough forms.
- Preheat the air fryer to 370°F (190°C).
- Shape the dough into small bites and spray lightly with cooking spray.
- Place in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
- Air fry for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown.
- In a separate bowl, mix extra cinnamon and coconut sugar.
- Roll the warm churro bites in the cinnamon-sugar mixture and serve warm.
Notes
For best taste, serve warm. Pair with yogurt dip or chocolate sauce for extra flavor. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
