Description

A quick and easy bread recipe using instant yeast that produces soft and delicious loaves in no time.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups very warm water
  • 1 packet rapid rise yeast (or 2 1/4 teaspoons)
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • - cups all-purpose flour
  • 1½ teaspoons salt

Instructions

  1. Place warm water, yeast, and sugar in a large bowl. Stir and let stand for 5 minutes to proof.
  2. Add oil, half of the flour (2 1/4 cups), and salt. Mix using a dough hook or by hand. Add remaining flour until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
  3. Knead the dough for 4-5 minutes.
  4. Cover with a dish towel and let rise in a warm place for 20 minutes or until it almost doubles in size.
  5. Divide the dough in half and place each half into a greased loaf pan.
  6. Bake in a 350°F oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and hollow sounding when tapped.
  7. Cool in pans for 5-10 minutes, then turn onto a cooling rack to cool completely.
  8. Slice and serve as desired.

Notes

Ensure water is warm but not too hot to avoid killing the yeast. Experiment with adding herbs or spices for extra flavor.
