Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 package (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 3/4 cup warm milk
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 large egg
Instructions
- Combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast in a bowl; let sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and softened butter, and mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Roll the dough out into a rectangle, then cut it into triangles.
- Roll each triangle from the wide end to the tip to form the croissant shape.
- Place on a baking sheet and let rise again for about 30 minutes.
- Brush with beaten egg and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
